What is a Taoist ?
by The Maui Taoist
One that sees the simple in the complex, and the complex in the simple.
Taoists know better than to try to know the unknowable, and that somethings can be understood yet not seen.
Someone that lives in harmony with the natural order of the universe; adapting to change when possible and accepting the unavoidable.
A person that respects that the world is not something to be improved upon but we are.
One that follows a path to the mysteries of the universe. Where did we come from? Where do we end up? Why are we here? How do we make sense of it? What are we to do?…All these questions are meaningless, nothing really matters more than something. Merge with nothing and there are no more questions!
A Taoist appears like an ignoramus to those that are unenlightened, and they enjoy the anonymity of it all.
Taoists let nature take its course and get out of the way if they need too. They believe in life, and live it as each moment opens up before them.
A person that is driven to become real, yet sets things up so it can happen with minimal effort. They know when they have enough, and trust that the universe will provide if they are conscious of it’s workings.
Taoists find inner strength in their ability to gather energy and apply it to their lives. They are introspective, and balanced and nurture a deep awareness, connection and respect to Heaven and Earth and everything that lives there.
A Taoist is a person that wishes all sentient beings can master the skills to live in harmony with each other, and helps them to the best of their ability.
Taoism is the religion of no religion, you can believe whatever you want to and still be Taoist. We don’t argue over faith, we respect it. Taoists have serious faith, faith in truth and love and we live simple, patient and compassionate lives. We don’t bother other people with things or argue about things that can’t be grasped with the mind anyway.
To be Taoist… is to live free in an unfree world.
I think that it’s our destiny to evolve, to grow, to change. I don’t believe that we are on a return journey. We can only love others as much as we love ourselves. If we don’t love ourselves , we won’t let others love us. The best we can do for ourselves and others is to bring all of ourselves under the umbrella of unconditional acceptance.Because,”A house divided against itself will fall.’”We can accomplish this by releasing ourselves from judgments that we have made about who we are, what life and relationships are.what we can have, what we deserve, whether or not we can achieve physical immortality, Our beliefs and our judgments are like molds that manifest for us,proving to us that life is just what we think it is. “As a man thinketh, so is he!” What is a man if he “thinketh not”? Human beings are made up of four parts, The mind, it’s opposite, the intuition, the body, and the heart. The intuition can only come forward, or flower,or evolve,if the mind is willing to take a step back and give it a chance, It’s domain is silence, darkness, feelings. The emotions are a part of the intuitive,or Yin center. Anger, fear and grief have been judged against and denied since the beginning of time. It’s the avoidance of these feelings that’s behind all addictive behavior. Like the use of drugs, alcohol, food, sex,tv,workaholicism, etc.,you name it.They are feelings and are apart of your feeling center, which can’t function properly if you’re always trying to shut it off. You need to find unconditional acceptance for all of your feelings. This center is magnetic. It will always attract situations to you in an attempt to try to get you to release these denied emotions that you have been forcing your body to hold in.These denied emotions cause “disease” of the internal organs! This center has been labeled as the “Emotional body”. I’m discussing with you about the healing and evolving of the Emotional body..Our objective is to give it equal value to the mind. They should be in perfect balance. The balance point is located in the heart. Whenever you’re doing something and you’d rather be doing something else, you’re denying yourself.Very few people do what they want to do when they want to do it. That’s not the way of our society! Freud discovered, upon interviewing many people that they all had an unconscious death wish. When you spend all your time doing things you don’t like doing, you wind up making a judgement that life more or less sucks. We get hurt and let down in relationships, our loved ones die and pretty soon we are unconsciously beckoning our own deaths. The less you love yourself the more self destructive you become. The main driving force behind this downward spiraling slide is denial. Our hearts know what we like and don’t like. We need to listen to our hearts so that they can guide us to our “Right place”. Your Body is a blessing, you can’t be here without one. You should love it,care for it, and protect it. It’s as valuable as the Mind, the Intuition, and the Heart. All four of these are our treasures and they should be harmonized and balanced!
